On Wednesday, August 12th, Kathy Smith agreed to drop all charges against a woman who attacked her while canvassing on July 11th.  Her assailant is taking anger management classes and wrote Kathy an apology letter.  "I treat all of my constituents with respect, whether we agree or disagree on particular issues. That's why I was glad to drop these charges as soon as I received an apology for the assault that occurred last month, " Kathy Smith said following the court appearance on Wednesday.  

Earlier today, after no other Democrats filed by the deadline, Kathy L. Smith was certified as the Democratic nominee for Sully District Supervisor.  The Democratic Primary for June 9th was thus cancelled.

"I am very excited to be the Democratic nominee for Sully District Supervisor," Smith said. "I want to take this opportunity to once again call for debates with the winner of the Republican nomination, once it is decided later this month."

It was a packed house at the home of Bob and Mary Ann Hovis as Lt. Governor Ralph Northam came to Sully District to campaign for Kathy Smith.  Northam noted this was a "very important election" and that we need Kathy on the Board of Supervisors.  Check out the pictures here!

Last night, Kathy Smith announced her candidacy for Sully District Supervisor. Kathy was introduced by Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova who said Smith would make an "excellent partner" on the Board.  
 

CHANTILLY- This week Fairfax County Democrats will officially certify a public primary to nominate their candidate for Supervisor in Sully District.  Kathy Smith issued the following statement:

Fairfax County school board member Kathy Smith declared her candidacy Thursday for the Sully District supervisor seat being vacated by long-time incumbent Michael Frey, who announced earlier this week that he will not be seeking re-election in November.
